North Yorkshire Safeguarding Children Board

The North Yorkshire Safeguarding Children Board is comprised of agencies and professionals responsible for promoting children's welfare and helping to protect children from abuse and neglect.

It is a multi agency group of senior managers who are responsible for agreeing how the different services and professional groups should co-operate to safeguard children throughout North Yorkshire and for making sure that arrangements work effectively in bringing about better outcomes for children.

The Safeguarding Children Board sees working partnerships as a key principle, both in child protection work with parents and in the development of quality links between all agencies involved in the process. The Board continually seeks to explore new ways of developing safeguarding children services to ensure better outcomes for children and has comprehensive sub-groups in place to assist.

The functions, roles and responsibilities of Safeguarding Children Boards are defined in chapter 3 of 'Working Together to Safeguard Children' 2006 produced by the Department of Education and Skills.
