Level 2: Effective Child Protection Conference

Aim: 

To give participants a comprehensive understanding of the child protection conference process in order to ensure positive outcomes for children at risk of significant harm.

This is the second course of three interlinking sessions looking at effective practice within the child protection process.  It replaces the two day Understanding Child Protection Conference Process and is for social workers, health visitors, police officers from the Protecting Vulnerable Persons Units, designated teachers and designated child protection leads in Early Years, working with vulnerable children and families, youth workers working with vulnerable young people, adult mental health workers etc.

Objectives

By the end of the course, participants should:

  • Understand their roles and contributions to child protection conferences
  • Have a clear understanding of the assessment  and decision making processes within a conference
  • Have a sound understanding of principles and processes for effective multi-agency working
