1.4.1 All professionals in contact with children and their families must be aware of child abuse and neglect and of the need to maintain vigilance at all times.
1.4.2 Joint agency training for staff is vital for effective children protection
1.4.3 Supervision and support must be available to all staff working in child protection.
1.4.4 These procedures aim to develop closer work between agencies in the assessment of need, planning and delivery of services. They reflect the Government guidance “Working Together to Safeguard Children” published by the Department for Education and Skills 2006. They should be read in conjunction with “Framework for Assessment of Children in Need and Their Families”.
1.4.5 The Safeguarding Children Board and its component agencies recognize that child protection is complex. It inevitably involves the exercise of judgement in decision making. The Safeguarding Children Board will support decisions taken in line with these procedures.
