Target Audience:
Course participants will have personal knowledge and experience in this field and come from a range of agencies including GPs, hospital and community health staff, ambulance and fire services, police, children's social care and education.
Aims:
This course is for professionals who are directly involved in the rapid response processes for unexpected child deaths and to further develop the skills to carry out an effective inter-agency investigation in accordance with Working Together to Safeguard Children, Chapter 7 (2010).
Aims:
- Understand the different components of the rapid response to an unexopected childhood death
- Discuss their role and that of other professionls involved in the process
- Explain to families the purpose and process of the rapid response, including what will happen to their child
- Collate and evaluate information from the investigation in the light of knowledge of nature and causes of unexopected childhood death
- Recognise and respond appropriately where there are suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of a child
The courses will be facilitated by UDIC Paediatricians and North Yorkshire Police.
