Domestic Abuse and its Impact on Children
Level 3 - One day
Target Group
Those who work regularly with children and those with a particular responsibility for safeguarding children, such as designated or named health and education professionals, police, social workers, etc.
Aims and Objectives
- To be able to understand the effects of domestic abuse on children and how they can be drawn into violent situations.
- To be able to consider different methods of intervention and responses to families at the first point of contact where there are domestic abuse issues.
- To recognise the importance of working in partnership with the families and other agencies and organisations.
- To enable participants to assess and respond to the risks to children and others where there is a history or current experiences of domestic abuse.
- To enable participants to consider the effects of stress associated with domestic abuse and positive parenting for their children.
