Target Group
Staff from statutory and voluntary agencies who work with parents or carers with learning disabilities and/or their children where the adults' learning disabilities may impact on their parenting ability and their children's development.
Aim
To enable staff from statutory and voluntary agencies to understand the possible impact of parental learning difficulties on children.
Outcomes
By the end of the course particpants should
- have an understanding of learning abilities and the potential impact on parenting ability.
- recognise and respond to concerns about children whose parents have learning disabilities.
- provide a framework to enable protection for children whose parents have learning disabilities and promote resilience.
