Aim:
To recognise that many young people (both boys and girls) are vulnerable or involved in sexual exploitation, including prostitution, abusive images, grooming, trafficking and through new technology. The course aims to help workers understand and recognise the issue, implement local procedure and respond appropriately.
Objective:
By the end of the training participants should be able to:
- Understand that “sexual exploitation” is “child abuse”
- Define the issue to include all forms of sexual exploitation as above
- Update on new legislation
- Familiarise with sexually active young people policies and understand local responses
- Recognise vulnerability and warning signs
- Explore direct services for best practice responses
