Aim:

To recognise and appreciate the roles taken by fathers and partners in families. To engage them more fully and effectively in planning and the practice of child protection work.

Objectives:

  • To understand the roles taken by fathers and partners in families in the care of children
  • To consider how best to engage fathers in child protection and safeguarding work
  • To look at services that support fathers and highlight any gaps in provision
  • To consider also the role of the teenage, first time father
