Free directory to help parents and carers find holiday activities and childcare

Parents and carers looking for activities for families and children over the school holidays can now find them in a county-wide listings.

North Yorkshire County Council has put together a directory of holiday clubs and activities across the county to help keep children and young people occupied through the summer break.

The activities have been added by providers to North Yorkshire Connect, an online community directory containing local information, including details of support, organisations, groups and activities on offer in the county.

The directory also now incorporates details of more than 100 child minders, nurseries and other early years providers. These details have been added to the directory to provide easily accessible information to parents and carers as many return to work as lockdown restrictions ease.

Schools are preparing to open to all pupils in September – in line with the recent Government announcement – and are not expected to open over the summer holidays.

Cllr Patrick Mulligan, Executive Member for Education and Skills, said: “With more businesses now reopening to the public and the easing of lockdown restrictions, many parents and carers are now returning to work.

“We have put together a directory of holiday activities to help keep children and young people occupied over the school holidays. The directory has also been expanded to include early years providers, to help families find details of local childcare.

“Although life is slowly returning to normal, we still have to be mindful that coronavirus is still a threat. Providers will be making their own arrangements to keep children and young people safe and we would ask parents to follow any procedures or guidance they have in place.”

The directory can be found at; https://northyorkshireconnect.org.uk
