Exciting opportunity to work within our Business Unit as a Policy and Development Officer

The North Yorkshire Safeguarding Children Partnership (NYSCP) has an exciting opportunity for an innovative individual to join the Business Unit as a Policy and Development Officer on a temporary contact for a 12 month period.

The aim of the NYSCP is to ensure all children and young people are safe, happy, healthy and achieving as set out in the NYSCP’s Being Young in North Yorkshire Strategy 2021-24. Through the development of policies and practice guidance that support the work of frontline practitioners across the county, the NYSCP works hard to ensure all partners have access to robust safeguarding procedures.

It is an exciting time to join the NYSCP as we consider the changes brought about in Working Together to Safeguard Children 2023 which focuses on strengthening multi-agency working, maintaining a child-centred approach to whole family work and embedding effective and consistent multiagency safeguarding arrangements.

This is a great opportunity for someone who understands the importance of relationship-based practice and who has strong skills and experience in partnership working and strategy development.

Areas of work will include but are not limited to:

• Analysing statistical data, understanding local trends and creating action plans in order to positively impact on the safeguarding and wellbeing of children and their families across the county

• Supporting change programmes that improve service quality, leading task and finish groups, driving forward specific pieces of work in your portfolio.

 • Understanding national safeguarding policies, practice and current research and translating these into a local context.

• Being part of audits and other review groups, writing reports and thinking creatively about how to share learning with the workforce.

The role would sit within the Safeguarding Children Partnership Business Unit which includes two other Policy and Development Officers, a Child Death Review Officer, a Leadership Support Officer and the NYSCP Partnership Manager.

We are looking for someone who can work creatively in a fast-paced environment, utilising their excellent communication and influencing skills to manage a varied workload.

If this sounds like the next role for you, please contact Hannah Ellingworth, Safeguarding Children Partnership Manager on 01609 533972 or Hannah.ellingworth@northyorks.gov.uk for an informal discussion.
